Aquaculture:

The quality of shrimp breeds is hard to control. But famers try to reduce the investment by buying cheap breeds. This causes the spread of diseases.

The deaths of snout otter clams in Van Don in Quang Ninh province continuously increase. This needs a solution

Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development prohibits Cypermethrin substance, which causes diseases in aquacultural farming.

To prevent diseases in shrimp in Mekong Delta, polyculture is proposed.

Snub-nuse Pompano is successfully bred in Khanh Hoa province.

Processing, import and export:

Mekong Delta provinces exported 287 000 ton Tra fish.

An idea in which only companies having processing factories and codes can export Tra fish to Europe is proposed.

Livestock:

Mong Cai pig brings high profit in Gia Lai province.

Income from dairy industry increases by about VND50 billion/year for Ha Noi.

Although the real price of pig, chicken, and Tra fish in Mekong Delta declines, consumers have to buy those with a high price.

Mitraco Ha Tinh Jsc. applies the newest technology, which allows people to control farming through computers, in breeding pig.

Cultivation:

Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development promotes programs that target 1 billion dollars of mushroom exportation this year.

The 320-ha rice paddy in Khanh An commune, U Minh district, Ca Mau province of Vien Phu Jsc. is the only field where growing rice with organic process is applied.

Coffee output in 2012-2013 season will decrease 15%.

Until now, scientists still cannot find the solution for people wanting to replant their coffee area.

Agriculture, Countryside and Farmers:

Agricultural insurance helps farmers with their jobs.

Violations against food safety are more serious. Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development conducts some research about building “safe food chain” and prevents violations.

Fruit:

Farmers in Mekong Delta these days are finding purple longan. This fruit is hot in the market.

Grapefruit in Vinh Long province is destroyed by worm.

Fruit in the southern part is still seen as a potential since farmers continue struggling with the unstable output and fluctuated price.

Ben Tre province promotes intercropping coconut with other fruits.

 Living and environment:

Though farmers sell their products with cheap price, the price consumers buy food in market is much higher than the original.

Pet, flower and others:

Gerbera is successfully developed in Ho Chi Minh city.

Despite the fast rate of urbanization, people in Ha Noi still raise money with their flower and ornamental plants grown at their homes.

Ho Chi Minh City Orchid farming club was established by the Ho Chi Minh City Society of Garden – Farm with more than 60 members, who are the owners of orchid farms, traders and businessmen interested in this flower.
