Aquaculture:

Representatives of Fisheries Associations of 9 provinces in Mekong Delta cooperate to promote Tra fish production and consumption.

Though raw material of black tiger shrimp is scarce in Mekong Delta, farmers in Tra Vinh province have to sell their shrimp with low price.

 More than VND100 billion is spent to promote aquaculture in 2011-2015.

On 8/29, Vo Hong Ngoan, “the king of black tiger shrimp”, earned VND5 billion after harvesting the crop in Vinh Trach Dong commune, Bac Lieu city, Bac Lieu province.

Water level has risen 4m in Tien and Hau rivers. This is an encouragement for farmers planting rice and vegetable due to flood season.

Insufficient electricity is one of the reasons that Ca Mau province has only 3,280 ha breeding shrimp in 10 years.



Processing, import and export:

Low salary is the reason causing unstable labor market in aquaculture industry and reducing labor efficiency.

Importers order a large quantity of raw aquatic materials but companies do not have enough output.



Livestock:

Ho Chi Minh city has the largest dairy cow herd, which contributes to milk industry of the country and improves farmers’ lives.

White horse is used to produce medicine, but its quantity quickly reduces in recent years.

There are 600 households breeding bees in 1,000ha forest in Quang Son commune (Lap Thach – Vinh Phuc province).



Cultivation:

Vinh Long started the project that VND12,6 billion is invested to expand the area intercropped cocoa and fruit in 2011-2015.

Without the support of machine, farmers lose VND70 billion/year during cashew harvest season in Dong Nai province.

In Cam My district, Dong Nai province, farmer Dinh Viet Han decided to cut down the old coffee trees and plant the new ones. After two years, the new trees quickly develop.

The Vietnam Sugar Cane and Sugar Association suggests companies should buy sugar cane raw material 10 CCS with the minimum price of VND900/kg in 2011-2012 season.

After one year applying alliance model, farmers planting peanut gains high profit in Dien Thinh commune, Nghe An province.

Rice output can reach 2 million ton in Soc Trang province.



Fruit:

Kaki without seeds is developed in Bac Kan province.

Grapefruit brings high profit in Dong Nai province.

“Choi rong” disease in longan is announced in Chau Thanh (Dong Thap province).

At the beginning of the season, 1 kg longan costs 40,000 – 50,000, but now, with that money, 10kg can be bought. The reason is in the harvest time, supply is more than consumption.

 

Pet, flower and others:

Center for Agricultural Support shares experience to florists in Ho Chi Minh city.

On 8/30, Full Park LLC, a company from Taiwan, started the project that ornamental plants for export are planted in Phu Yen province.
